Damai I Liveaboard Expedition to Alor

November 11-18, 2015

Discounted 25% OFF Published Rates + FREE Upgrade to All Inclusive

DAMAI I will be conducting an exciting exploratory trip in the southern waters of Alor from November 11th-18th 2015. We will be onboard for 7 nights and plan to dive, not only the signature dives of the area around Pura and Pantar, but also to spend a couple days exploring new areas where we have never had the chance to dive before, mainly along the south coast. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy a beautiful area and experience a bit of the pirate spirit. This is a very special charter on a very special ship. Contact us fast for a cabin and our additional agent discounts.

Just a taste of the trip….

Fly into Maumere in Flores and after a short journey enjoy your check out dive on the island of Babi. This is a good opportunity to get your eyes hunting for small creatures like hidden frogfish and colourful nudibranchs.

Dive in Waiwewong on the west coast of Lembata. This muck diving haven is set against the backdrop of the volcanos that line these islands. Rhino City is named for the much sought after Lacy Scorpionfish.

Beangabang is a small village on the south east coast of Pantar and an iconic macro dive destination. With a mixture of reef slope and black sand there are plenty of critters and juveniles to enjoy.

Once you arrive in Alor the entertainment continues with children from the local villages. The morning dives are on current rich reefs like The Cathedral and Tanjung Ela Lara. So keep your eyes open for pelagics before moving into Kalabahi Bay to dive the black sand slope at Mucky Mosque for the afternoon and night dive.

The volcano island of Pura will send visiting ladies selling their unique weaving. The current rich waters around the island have a variety of dives; Valley of the Clowns with its carpets of anemones; Pak Jans Village as a cool macro dive and Mandarin Wall for a dusk dive.

Alor Divers Resort - Alor Island, Indonesia

posted by Liquid Diving Adventures    |   May 26, 2013 15:14

Indonesia has become one of our favorite dive destinations because of the variety of dive sites.... wrecks, reefs, muck dives....you name it and you can find it in Indonesia. Here is another amazing resort on the Island of Alor. Our best package is 6 nights, 5 days with full board beach bungalow accommodations, 2 boat dives per day, unlimited house reef dives, airport, transfers for $1253 per person double occupancy ($969 Euro). A transfer package including R/T airfare from Bali plus a one night hotel stay is required and priced at time of booking.

Located between Flores and Sawoe Sea, Alor Archipelago is one of Indonesia's last frontiers. Alor and Pantar are the main Islands and the strait between the two is a world class dive attraction.

A long time considered too remote because of the lack of infrastructure, Alor and its capital Kalabahi are now much easier to access. Owing to the latest development of Indonesian airlines this paradise is just a small step further than popular destinations such as Bali or Java. In the Alor region, the local government is carefully planning and developing ecotourism as a part of a conservation strategy. Aware of the potentional of the Alor marine park, it is working closely with local communities, encouraging sustainable fishing techniques to keep Pantar strait an authentic underwater paradise.

THE RESORT - Alor Divers is an intimate resort situated on a 400m long white sandy beach; stretched layout, all the bungalows and restaurant seafront, spacious private terraces with view on spectacular Pantar strait; indoor bathroom with hot and cold shower, 24h reliable electricity.

The resort offers full board accommodation with a variety of healthy meals, succulent combination of Asiatic and International dishes.

THE DIVING - World class diving in Alor, virgin slopes and walls with generous coral growth, scenic underwater rock formation and pinnacles, excellent fish life, critters dives and more... Unlimited diving on pristine house reef, seasonal passage of whales. Dive locations chosen according to the tide to get the best conditions and safe diving; all the dive sites within 5 to 35m boat ride. Photos courtesy of Gilles Brignardello, Alor Divers.

Komodo

This famous dive destination is located in the within the Coral Triangle, an area that boasts the world's highest marine biodiversity. Situated 200 nautical miles east of Bali in Nusa Tenggara province - in the Lesser Sunda Islands - the Komodo National Park has a total land area of 75,000 hectares and encompasses a number of islands, the largest of which is Komodo (34,000 hectares). A total of 112,500 hectares of the surrounding waters is also under the jurisdiction of the park rangers, allowing for the protection of over 1,000 species of fish and hundreds of different corals.

Komodo's dive sites stretch from the warm waters of the Flores Sea in the north to the chillier waters down south in the Indian Ocean. The underwater terrain presents many contrasts, with sheer cliff walls, pinnacles, sandy flat bottoms, underwater plateaus, slopes, caves, swim-throughs and channels - all with differing colours, sizes and types of both hard and soft corals.

General information: Currents can be strong; dive depths 5-30 meters; number of dive sites, 53; seas are generally calm; visibility 10-40 meters; water temperature 22-28 degrees C; suitable for intermediate to advanced divers.
