Meet the Vessels: Sea Bird and Sea Star. The Sea Bird and Sea Star are traditional twin-masted sailing yachts designed to offer relaxed and carefree cruising experiences. Each vessel embarks on 7-night cruises departing from Mahé, navigating around Praslin, La Digue, and the Sisters islands, providing guests with exceptional snorkeling and diving opportunities. Both sister ships are 42-meter-long sailing yachts featuring beautiful teak decks and magnificent Bermuda sails. Each accommodating up to 18 guests across nine fully air-conditioned, en-suite cabins, the vessels ensure a comfortable stay for all aboard. Guests can choose between double cabins, ideal for couples, and triple cabins equipped with a double bed and an additional single bunk, catering to diverse accommodation preferences.
Imagine embarking on a journey where crystal clear, turquoise waters gently caress powdery white sands and lush tropical landscapes stretch as far as the eye can see. The vibrant coral gardens and well-preserved wrecks provide endless exploration opportunities, making the Seychelles an unforgettable diving destination.
Onboard amenities include an air-conditioned bar/lounge/dining salon equipped with a TV, DVD player, stereo system, ice machine, and laundry facilities. The unique two-tiered sundecks offer ample sunbathing space, while the covered leisure area at the stern provides a shaded retreat for relaxation. For those seeking additional activities, kayaks are available for exploration during the voyage. A significant aspect of the journey aboard the Sea Bird and Sea Star is the culinary experience. Guests are treated to a delightful combination of international and authentic Creole cuisine, thoughtfully crafted to provide energy for the day's diving and other exploratory activities. Meals are served in the air-conditioned dining salon, where passengers can also relax on cozy couches between dives. The holistic approach to dining ensures that guests enjoy both the underwater wonders and the above-water experiences, with meals prepared with care and love to enhance the overall journey.
Aboard the Sea Bird and Sea Star, divers can immerse themselves in the rich underwater world of the Seychelles' inner islands. The itineraries offer world-class dive diversity, including exhilarating drop-offs, well-preserved wrecks, granite reefs, pristine corals, and abundant marine life such as sailfish, mantas, and whale sharks. For those looking to enhance their diving skills, both vessels offer various diving courses suitable for different experience levels. Fit for both novice divers eager to earn initial certifications, and experienced divers looking to expand their expertise, the professional crews aboard each vessel are equipped to assist in making underwater exploration unforgettable. The ships are geared towards recreational diving and the ships do not offer EAN nitrox.
While diving is a highlight of the voyage, the Sea Bird and Sea Star also cater to non-divers and those seeking a variety of activities. Guests can enjoy snorkeling in crystal clear waters, kayaking around secluded coves, and island-hopping excursions to explore the unique flora and fauna of the Seychelles. These additional activities ensure that every guest, regardless of their diving experience, can fully appreciate the beauty and serenity of the archipelago.

Dive Conditions

Seychelles is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa, northeast of Madagascar. The archipelago consists of 115 islands where you can find tropical, white sands, clear blue water, and great scuba diving. Divers consider the Seychelles as the Galapagos of the Indian Ocean. Although diving is popular year-round, the best conditions are April through May and October through November when the seas are calm. Visibility is usually 30 meters. Water temperatures range from a low of 28° C/83° F to a high of 30° C/86° F.
There are 41 inner granite islands and 74 outer coral atolls and reef islands. The main islands are Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, which nearly the entire population calls home. Many of the uninhabited islands are only accessible by boat, and this is where the diving is about as good as it gets. Wreck dives are available in some areas while wall dives, drop-off dives and drift diving will only be found on the islands to the south.
Some of the best dive sites include: One Tree Island is especially for divers focused on finding fish. The shallow site with generally good visibility, sits on a granite substrate, which is popular with moray eels and stingrays. Varieties of reef fish and huge hump-head parrotfish are also a common sight. Divers also encounter ghost pipefish hanging upside down.
Trois Bancs where when divers reach these three granite-based reefs, they drift over steep drop-offs, along vertical walls, under massive ledges and through small caves. The currents here can be strong, and they attract big pelagics, turtles and reef sharks. Whale sharks can also be found when they're in season.
North Island is known for its fantastic coral reefs this area offers multiple pinnacles that reach to the surface from a sandy bottom. A variety of reef fish are fond of the site and divers regularly encounter whitetip reef sharks, stingrays, and nurse sharks.
Napoleon is one of the best dives off Alphonse Island. It is covered in beautiful soft corals and an incredible amount of fish life. You can also find great macro and manta rays here.
