Matangi Resort offers four styles of accommodation: Oceanview Bure, Beachfront Bure, Treehouse, and a Two-Bedroom Bure. All accommodations include air conditioning, ceiling fans, towels, daily supply of freshly baked cookies, a mini bar on request, a French press for coffee, an in-room safe, bathrobes, slippers, iPod docking station with clock, and lounging areas.
All meals are served in the Vale-Ni-Kana Dining Room that is located just off the beach. The restaurant offers a 270-degree view of the ocean and the stunning tropical gardens. The resort’s menu is inspired by its Fijian surroundings and uses local tropical foods such as tapioca, taro, breadfruit, Fijian spinach, coconut, fresh fish, and seafood. The Fijian practice of Lovo, where food is cooked underground in an earth-oven, is offered weekly, weather permitting. Vegetarian and other dietary needs are catered to as well.
Matangi Private Island Resort is PADI-certified and requires divers to show a dive certification before going on any diving trip. The dive boat leaves the island each morning at around 8:30 am and returns for lunch. Trips to the amazing Somosomo Strait can be arranged and require a minimum of four divers. There are countless dive sites within a 20-mile radius of the island. This includes the famous Great White Wall, Noel’s Wall, numerous reefs, coral formations, and so much more.
When guests are not exploring the ocean, they may immerse themselfes in the local culture by taking tours of villages, sitting in on cooking demonstrations, or attending a handicraft show. Guests may also explore the island’s unique landscape by going on a waterfall tour, a hike through the Lavena coastline, or by visiting the Civa Pearl Farm.
