If you’re planning a trip to Taveuni, do it right by booking a stay at Paradise Taveuni Resort. This luxury boutique resort offers guests a truly authentic Fijian experience with traditional thatched-roof bungalows set amidst lush tropical gardens and surrounded by crystal-clear waters. The Paradise Taveuni Resort offers a range of amenities designed to make your stay unforgettably luxurious, including an on-site restaurant serving delicious Fijian and international cuisine, a bar and lounge area, and a swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. One of the standout features of the Paradise Taveuni Resort is its world-class spa facilities which offers a range of relaxing treatments and therapies, including massages, facials, and body wraps, all using locally-sourced organic products.
When booking your stay with Paradise Taveuni Resort, be sure to inquire about the cultural tours of nearby villages, where you can learn about the local way of life and experience traditional Fijian customs and ceremonies (as well as all the delicious food). One of the highlights of Taveuni is its abundance of waterfalls, which are easily accessible via hiking trails or guided tours. Along the way, you are sure to spot plenty of exotic wildlife, including rare bird species such as the orange dove and silktail. Some of the most popular waterfalls you’ll want to check out include Tavoro Falls, Bouma Falls, and Lavena Falls, all of which are cascading waterfalls surrounded by lush vegetation---the perfect spot for a refreshing dip after a rigorous hike.
If you’re an avid diver traveling to Taveuni, an excursion to The Great White Wall is a must. This dive site gets its name from the breathtaking white coral wall that descends from the surface down 30 meters to a sandy plateau. With impressive visibility and strong currents, The Great White Wall attracts a diverse range of marine life where divers can expect to encounter an array of colorful fish, including butterfly fish, unicorn fish, and anthias. The highlight of the dive, however, is the chance to see the large schools of black triggerfish and other pelagic species that frequent the area. Due to the challenging conditions of the Great White Wall, the site is typically only recommended for experienced divers. However, many of the dive operators on Taveuni offer guided trips to the Great White Wall, which cater to divers of all skill levels. Most operators also provide full equipment rentals, as well as PADI certification courses for those who want to take their diving skills to the next level. In addition to The Great White Wall or as an alternative, The Somosomo Strait is another highly popular diving location on the island and is known for its impressive array of marine life, ranging from sharks to rays to colorful tropical fish. For mobility-challenged divers, the resort has a wheelchair-friendly Bure - Niu Bure - and the Team is great at looking after Guests with disabilities. The restaurant has ramp access, and the boat dock has ramp access to the boat. Some disabled divers take advantage of the Private Dive Guide service for only US$25 per day.
For those who prefer to stay above water, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are fantastic ways to explore Taveuni's gorgeous coastline. Several tour operators offer guided trips that take visitors along the island's scenic rivers and mangroves. If you’re a surfer, you’ll have no trouble finding excellent breaks around Taveuni, with some of the best waves found on the island's eastern side. While the surf may be challenging at times, the scenery and lack of crowds make it a unique and memorable experience for seasoned surfers.

Dive Conditions

Fiji has a tropical climate sporting a year-round diving season. The water temperature hovers around 25°C (77°F) in winter and 29°C (84°F) in summer. The average depth of the dives is between 5m to 40m with very clear visibility of up to 15m to 40m.
The majority of diving is done as drift dives, allowing you to cover large distances and see walls of soft corals. Current is your friend in Fiji, as it brings out the soft corals while wildlife piles up on the current side of reefs. Photographers often use a reef hook to find a spot with beautiful colors, hook in, and shoot to their heart’s delight. The tops of pinnacles and reefs usually host a plethora of life. Just hook in and shoot as the current blows you around. Always carry a safety sausage so the tender boat can see you when you surface. Soft corals are not everywhere in Fiji – divers need to go to specific areas. And there are some stunning hard coral reefs in Fiji that offer great macro, some good pelagic life, and the best shark dive in the world.
The water temperature during the dry season (June - September) is usually in the mid-70s F, with August being the coolest month. During the wet season (December - April) temperatures are usually in the low 80s F with February and March being the warmest months underwater. Underwater visibility during the dry season is often 100’+ outside the lagoons. The Bligh Waters can have high visibility even in the wet season, ranging from 80-100ft. Fiji is warm and tropical most of the time with air temperatures ranging between 31°C between 26°C all year round.
