Sau Bay Resort & Spa WEATHER
Sau Bay offers three styles of accommodation, all of which are located between the virgin rainforest and the waterfront. The studio options are 540 square feet and feature a king-sized bed and an extra bed option to house three guests. The two-bedroom bures are 1080 square feet and have two queen beds in each bedroom, with an extra bed available. These bures can accommodate up to six guests. The luxury bure is 1080 square feet and features a king-sized bed and pull-out couch, housing four guests. This bure is the most secluded and features an in-ground soaking tub. Each bure includes air conditioning, an indoor and outdoor shower, an outdoor lounge area, an in-room safe, a minibar, a fridge, a television, and turn-down service.
The PADI-certified resort is just a short boat ride away from the Rainbow Reef, known as the “soft coral capital of the world,” home to the famous White Wall, and offers three tank dives, night diving, PADI courses, Nitrox, and unlimited shore diving. Sau Bay’s dive shop is in-house and offers gear checks, maintenance, secure gear storage, dive lessons, briefings, and transports gear to and from the boat. Rentals include new top-of-the-line Zeagle BCDs, Atomic regulators, Suunto computers, wetsuits, and other equipment. It is located on the waterfront, not far from the resort’s restaurant. The dive shop provides nitrox for certified divers but does not offer tec diving or support rebreathers.
Sau Bay’s main dive boat, the Sau Diver, is a 32-foot aluminum ship built for diving. This boat accommodates up to twelve divers, but Sau typically only takes groups of two to six divers to create a more relaxed and private environment. Sau Diver is equipped with a 250 HP motor and is known for its stability in harsh weather conditions. The resort offers paddle boarding, sailing, kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, fishing, Fijian cooking, spa treatments, and stargazing. Excursions to waterfalls, local villages, historical sites, and cultural ceremonies are available as well.

Dive Conditions

Fiji has a tropical climate sporting a year-round diving season. The water temperature hovers around 25°C (77°F) in winter and 29°C (84°F) in summer. The average depth of the dives is between 5m to 40m with very clear visibility of up to 15m to 40m.
The majority of diving is done as drift dives, allowing you to cover large distances and see walls of soft corals. Current is your friend in Fiji, as it brings out the soft corals while wildlife piles up on the current side of reefs. Photographers often use a reef hook to find a spot with beautiful colors, hook in, and shoot to their heart’s delight. The tops of pinnacles and reefs usually host a plethora of life. Just hook in and shoot as the current blows you around. Always carry a safety sausage so the tender boat can see you when you surface. Soft corals are not everywhere in Fiji – divers need to go to specific areas. And there are some stunning hard coral reefs in Fiji that offer great macro, some good pelagic life, and the best shark dive in the world.
The water temperature during the dry season (June - September) is usually in the mid-70s F, with August being the coolest month. During the wet season (December - April) temperatures are usually in the low 80s F with February and March being the warmest months underwater. Underwater visibility during the dry season is often 100’+ outside the lagoons. The Bligh Waters can have high visibility even in the wet season, ranging from 80-100ft. Fiji is warm and tropical most of the time with air temperatures ranging between 31°C between 26°C all year round.
