Uepi Island Resort is located on a classic raised barrier reef island, and is the only resort on the remote island. It is surrounded by a fringing reef and a sand beach. There is a warm lagoon on one side of the island with the oceanic depths of The Slot on the other side. The island is about 2.5 km long and 300 meters wide. Besides the resort’s own cultivated tropical gardens, the entire resort is covered with a stunning tropical rainforest.

The other two beachfront bungalows are great for families. Vanua 1 has a large main room that includes a sitting area, desk, coffee making facilities, and two single beds. The main bedroom has a king or twin bed and the bathroom has a separate toilet. The large shaded deck area is connected to the main room. Vanua 2 has two separate rooms that are connected by a wide corridor. The main room is similar to that of Vanua 3 and 6. The extra room has a high dividing wall, so it can accommodate up to two people as twin or double occupancy and have a small shared lounge area. Both rooms open to a large shaded deck area and there is a semi-detached bathroom.
The Garden Bungalows are set back about forty meters from the water and are nestled in private gardens. Each Vanua has king or twin beds, and a large shaded deck area with outdoor furniture and hammock. The highlight of these bungalows is the views of both the lagoon and nearby channel. The Dual Units share a common wall but are completely private. Both units have an open space room, a bathroom, and a separate toilet. There is a bedroom area and along one wall is a wet bar including a sink and coffee making facilities. The Guest Rooms share a common wall and have amazing views over the Marovo. One of the guest rooms (7A) is as large as a bungalow with an ensuite shower and separate toilet, kitchenette area, king beds, and a deck. This room is located on a slight rise, gets gentle breezes, and has an overhead fan. The other room room (7B) is smaller, has an ensuite with a toilet and shower, opens out onto a large, breezy deck, and has two single beds.
Uepi Resort has easy access to unique first-class dive sites just minutes from shore. The water is normally very clear with visibility of up to thirty meters. The tidal current to and from the Marovo Lagoon and The Slot makes the water passage a perfect habitat for a diverse colorful population of filter feeders. This includes corals, sponges, reef fish, sedentary critters, and pelagics. One of the top dive sites is Uepi Point. This site features a vertical reef corner that is coated with corals, including gorgonian fan and colorful spiky soft corals. When divers descend to thirty meters, there is a coral peninsula that juts out into the ocean depths. The walls plunge into the abyss and this is the stage for an endless procession of pelagics including schooling barracuda, jacks, runner, rays, and sharks. There are occasions when this site turns into a hunting and feeding ground, making it an exciting dive. Night diving is a great experience at Uepi. There are several jetties that are home for many critters, and at night there is a profusion of echinoderms, invertebrates, and crustaceans in this area. Dives find crayfish, shells, eels, rays, shrimp, crabs, and so much more. Wreck dives from WWII at Wickham Harbour are about fifty kilometers south west of the resort, and a 75-minute boat ride. The wrecks include Azusa Maru, Iawami Maru, and two unidentified wrecks.

Dive Conditions

The Solomon Islands offer great diving conditions all year-round. The water temperatures are stable at 26-29°C/80-85°F. Visibility is generally around 15 meters/50 feet to 21 meters/60 feet or more. Also, on dives over deep water, you can expect a visibility that exceeds 30 meters/100 feet.
The Solomon Islands has some of the most pristine dive sites in the world. Unspoiled because of the remote location, there are not many divers or fishermen to put pressure on the reef and fish. The marine diversity of the Solomon Islands is without equal. Hundreds of world-class wrecks, dramatic caves, endless lush coral gardens, biodiversity to rival other Coral Triangle destinations like Indonesia, PNG, and the Philippines, little to no other dive boats around; the Solomon Islands are a scuba diving paradise.
Lying at the eastern edge of the Coral Triangle, the Solomons offer an impressive diversity of marine life, ranging from nudibranchs to cuttlefish and a wealth of other critters. Fish life is also abundant, including massive schools of trevally and barracuda, along with a vast assortment of colorful reef fish. Many reefs offer abundant healthy hard coral, sponges, fans, and soft coral. Underwater terrain is varied, including walls, slopes, coral gardens, and pinnacles, plus dramatic and highly photographic caverns.
